Obsessed with this era. This shoot was a true nod Obsessed with this era. This shoot was a true nod to the raw, moody glamour of the ’90s — thin brows, smoky eyes, almost no blush, and that effortless undone cool that defined the decade. Inspired by the iconic black-and-white work of legendary photographer Herb Ritts at the height of his career, we set out to capture the same mood, texture and striking light that made his imagery so unforgettable. At the time, Herb had just released the now-famous Richard Gere petrol station image, and his photography was revered by everyone in fashion and beauty. His ability to sculpt the body and face through light and shadow was pure artistry — and recreating even a hint of that atmosphere was no easy task. What I loved most about working on this series was learning how powerful lighting truly is. Shot entirely on film — not digital — every detail mattered. Film gave the black-and-white imagery depth, texture and soul in a way digital often can’t replicate. We worked to create complementary shadows along the décolletage and throughout the body, allowing the hair, makeup and lighting to work together as one story. And of course, having the incredible Dino Rambaldini in front of the camera — one of the hottest models of the era — brought the whole vision to life perfectly. Still one of my favourite shoots and such an important creative learning curve for me as a hair and makeup artist. ✨ #herbritts #90s #rock #beauty
