The recent LA fires have left many people emotionally drained, grappling with stress, anxiety, and a deep sense of loss. In times of distress, finding moments of calm and restoration is essential. Aromatherapy, a natural and holistic approach to healing, offers a simple yet powerful way to ease emotional turmoil and promote well-being.

When I need a natural pick-me-up, I turn to essential oils to create the perfect mood – lifting my spirit and bringing balance back into my day. People are increasingly embracing aromatherapy as a way to not only support physical health but also alleviate stress, anxiety, and emotional fatigue.

Start by adding a few drops of your favorite essential oil to a warm bath or diffuser, and let the soothing scents work their magic. Whether it’s calming lavender, grounding sandalwood, or uplifting citrus, the right aroma can help restore a sense of peace amidst the chaos.

Quick Tips

✦  For massage, essential oils need to be mixed with carrier oils because they are too concentrated on their own and can harm the skin. The best carrier oils are sweet almond, apricot and hazelnut oils.

✦  Read the labels of aromatherapy oils to look for “pure essential oil” synthetic oils are very strong and instead of soothing you they can give you a throbbing headache.

✦  Store oils in a cool dark place and choose dark bottles. Once opened, use oils within 2 years maximum.

✦  If you’re pregnant or on medication consult a doctor or an aromatherapist before using essential oils.

✦  Never take essential oils internally or apply undiluted to skin. The only oils that can be dabbed on neat are tea-tree and lavender, which soothe burns and act as antiseptic. Don’t use lavender on skin if you’re pregnant.

✦  If you suffer advanced asthmatic conditions, epilepsy or a heart condition, seek medical advice before using any of these oils.
