‘Tis the season for sunshine and as we pack away our winter woollies, it’s the time to also switch up your beauty regime at home to get the most out of our summer skincare products.

Suncare

Broad Spectrum sunscreen (meaning protection from both harmful UVA and UVB rays) should first and foremost be your skin’s best friend, sticking by your side all year long.

Alpha-H has an SPF50+ sunscreen for the face that is light enough to wear under makeup without leaving a greasy residue. Plus the nourishing formula means it’s great for everyday use.

Cleansers

Rich and creamy cleansers that your skin may have lapped up during the colder months may be too nourishing during the summer season, depending on your skin’s needs.  It’s still important to cleanse every day to remove dirt, makeup and oil from the skin.

Switch to a lightweight solution that works hard to deeply clean and refresh the skin, preparing it for serums and sunscreen.

My pick would be a mild foaming one like the Skinceuticals Foaming Cleanser. It’s fragrance-free and gentle enough to remove makeup without irritation.

Toners

A toner and refreshing spritz spray that you may have used sparingly in the colder months can be used daily after cleansing to remove excess dirt, makeup and prepare the skin to be moisturised.

For a hard-working refresh, try the Mist from La Mer. Formulated with its signature Miracle Broth™, it works to instantly shift the skin’s energy levels to uplift and revive tired skin.

Simply and accurately described as ‘a sea breeze captured in a bottle’. This product would probably be a favourite skincare pick of mine!  I love to keep a bottle in the fridge for an instant pick me up after a run or swim.

Body oil

Swap out rich body butter and creams for lighter lotions and oils that will melt into the skin and lock in moisture.

Kora Organics have a luxurious, body oil that is lightweight but packed with nourishing ingredients and will leave the skin feeling soft and hydrated. It’s also cruelty-free and certified organic.

Hair

Just like our skin, your hair and scalp need to be protected in summer from the elements.

The Miracle Hair Treatment from ELEVEN Australia is a leave-in creme that delivers this and so much more.

I’ll use it before a swim to protect my hair from the sun and to lock in moisture from sea or chlorine damage. It’s also great as a detangler before heat styling and for taming frizz.
